Sea-level record from the last 5.5 Million years. The long-term record is produced by an indirect method, namely δ18O obtained from deep sea sediments (Lisiecki and Raymo 2005). The sea level since the last interglacial is reconstructed based on direct methods, such as corals (b). The last 35 ka of detailed sea level reconstructions using data obtained from Northeastern and Northwestern Australia is depicted in (c). Rapid rises and falls of sea level can be identified (Yokoyama et al. 2018; Webster et al. 2018; Ishiwa et al. 2019)
